Someone once said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Photography has taught me that true beauty is in the details. It is only when we take pause, and be still, that the true beauty of an object of focus reveals itself.

In this modern age of on-the-go lifestyle, we often forget to stop and take a breath of fresh air, or just sit somewhere alone in nature and experience life happening all around us in the grass; in the trees; in the water; or in the sky. I have found the greatest sense of peace and well-being while sitting, watching, listening and waiting for something spectacular to happen. Little did I know, when I started this photographic journey just a few short years ago, that that "something spectacular" could come in the form of an anole watching me, while as I was sitting and watching for it. Or, that it could come in the form of the setting sun as it makes its final descent beyond the horizon, and for a brief moment, the sky and clouds shift through every color of the spectrum.

It is when we become focused on the details, and reach the point that time stands still, and we are "in-the-moment," that true beauty reveals itself. At that moment, we are presented with an opportunity to freeze that moment forever, whether it be in the form of a memory, or a photograph. However, I find it is much easier to share a photograph, which brings me to the purpose of this site.

I started TopsailPhotos.com as a way to share some of the spectacular moments I have captured here on Topsail Island, as well as other places I have ventured, with all of you. Please stay for a while, taking in and absorbing all that this site has to offer. Who  knows, you may find a photograph you just can't resist.
